Hampstead Art Society Summer Exhibition

Hampstead Art Society is an art establishment run by artists, for artists, promoting the pictorial tradition alive today. The 4th annual summer exhibition comprising 90 international works, features paintings from the estate of Sargy Mann and invited artist Yedidya Hershberg. This group exhibition also includes work selected from this year's open call, with artists from a diverse number of countries including Japan, Georgia, Thailand, India and U.S.A. exhibiting work in London for the first time.

Sargy Mann (1937 - 2015) was a perceptual painter whose art explored new ways of seeing. His work continues to resonate today and his influence is found not only in contemporary art but also in the philosophy of perception. Changes to his sight and a pursuit of the "shared experience" evolved his painting process, leaving us with an abundant legacy. In collaboration with the artist's estate, three selected paintings will demonstrate the continuation and divergences of Sargy's work from the early 70's, late 70's, and the mid 90's. A complimentary talk on July 11th with Peter Mann and Michael Ajerman will examine the painter's captivating images.
